While the Coronavirus Pandemic is still dominating the majority of the news we read, it is equally important to think about the positives. 

  • Drive in Movies – YES! They are back. With indoor theaters across the country being forced to close due to COVID-19, outdoor theaters have come back and in a big way!
  • US Astronauts return to space – Did you know this? For the first time in nearly a decade SpaceX launched 2 of NASA’s finest into earth’s orbit. And get this…. On the same launch pad used to send the Apollo Astronauts into orbit half a century ago.
  • Three (3) Historic peace agreements have been brokered by the US between Israel and in the Middle East.
  • Pollution is dropping! Because of the worldwide and unprecedented levels of staying at home, levels of air pollutants and warming gases are down almost 50% compared to this time last year.
  • Koalas are being released back into the wild. Remember the wildfires that devastated over 2/5 million acres of land in Australia? Well, it is now safe to start releasing rescued koalas back into their natural habitat!
  • The formation of Volunteers – As the pandemic continues to dominate our lives, over 500,000 people have volunteered to deliver food and medicine to vulnerable people, transport them to appointments, and speak to isolated people over the p hone. These Volunteers have stayed on to help support those in need showing community spirit is continuing to be one of the most positive outcomes throughout COVID.
  • NETFLIX – Netflix is doing more than providing us with endless entertainment, but the have also donated $1 million to BFI and the UKs Film and TV charity COVID fund to help provide relief to freelancers. I BET YOU DIDN”T KNOW THIS!
  • The Big Give – Charities like the Big Give and The National Emergency Trust launched a COVID-19 Emergency Appeal to help those most affected by COVID. Whatever you donate, they doubled it!
  • Hero’s – Not all heroes where capes! While we are all trying to stay safe indoors, Doctors, Nurses, Hospital Workers, delivery drivers, retails staff and more are all working around the clock to make sur we have everything we need.
  • Vaccines – Although it is still early on, we are continuing to see more potential vaccines being developed. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

As another chapter of our lives is about to end, it is that time of year when we reflect on what has gone before and what is yet to take flight.  May you take time to reflect upon and acknowledge your accomplishments, your dreams and those who matter most to you in  your life.  Happy New Year from all of us at Scientific Instrument Center.  Many blessings for a wonderful 2021!
