Maintenance:

Like every other medical instrument, the Medical Centrifuge also, requires regular maintenance. It is essential to care for the equipment after every use.

  1. Calibration of a centrifuge should always be performed by a qualified service technician.

  2. Maintenance procedures should be carried out:

    1. Daily

    2. Monthly

    3. Annually

  3. To prolong the life of your centrifuge, wipe the inside to the bowl with a disinfectant solution and rinse it thoroughly immediately after use.

  4. When cleaning the device after use, clean the housing and rotor accessories with a neutral cleaning agent,

  5. To prevent damage, never use the centrifuge while it is hot.

  6. When the centrifuge is in use, be aware of unusual vibrations, noise or the deterioration of parts. If any of these should occur, stop the device and remove the plug. Then contact a qualified service technician.

  7. Monthly maintenance should always be complemented with an annual maintenance, and again by a qualified service technician.

  8. The annual maintenance should include the cleaning of condenser coils, filter as well as the fan screens.

  9. The centrifuge brushes should also be checked along with the bearings, timer, temperature and speed as well as the electrical integrity.

  10. During the operation, should liquid from a tube spill on the centrifuge device, this should not go ignored. Instead you must clean immediately, as such spills can easily cause corrosion or damage.

  11. The tubes used in the centrifuge do not last forever. They do develop cracks over time. Using a tube that is cracked is extremely dangerous, especially when using hazardous substances. They can easily break while inside a centrifuge and cause damage.   These tubes should be replaced as soon as you come across them.
